Both subscription options are available now. The annual plan costs $50 USD, saving $10 compared with twelve monthly payments.

Why $5 a month or $50 a year?

Herculean was built by one man, and it’s run by one man. There are no investors, shareholders or venture capitalists to satisfy. No advertising, no selling your data and no business model built around harvesting your information.

But software requires energy, servers and maintenance.

I originally built Herculean for myself, to make my own productivity phenomenal. It’s worked even better than I expected, so now I’m throwing it out there to make my own dent in the universe.

With no one chasing me the pricing question was simple.

If you met me in the pub and bought me a Guinness, would I let you use Herculean for a month?

Yeah, I probably would. And if you kept buying me a beer every month, I’d be perfectly happy with that arrangement.

A Guiness is about $5 local to me.

And if you wanted a whole year?

Well, I’d be equally happy with a bottle of 12 year Highland Park Scotch. That’s roughly $50.

That’s it. That’s genuinely how Herculean is priced.

One beer a month. One bottle of Scotch a year. A system built for individuals, paid for by individuals, directly supporting the individual who built it.

How to subscribe

1. Open the Herculean app.
2. Create an account or sign in with Google.
3. Choose the monthly or annual plan in the app and complete checkout through Stripe.
4. Follow the production installation guide to connect an AI service such as ChatGPT.

The subscription options are managed after you have signed in to your Herculean account. The website does not host a separate checkout form.

The price you join at is the price you keep

The price shown when you subscribe stays the same for as long as that subscription remains active. Changes to published prices apply to new subscriptions; we will not increase an existing subscription except in the exceptional circumstances set out in the Application Terms.

That exception is for extraordinary, sustained increases in essential costs—such as hyperinflation or extreme rises in electricity, hard drives, RAM, hosting, computing or data storage—that would otherwise make the affected plan loss-making. If we ever need to consider a change, we will explain the costs and show how we worked out the new price, give at least 30 days’ notice, and let you cancel before the higher price applies.
