Connect through MCP

Herculean connects to AI services through Model Context Protocol (MCP), an open standard that allows AI applications to connect with external tools and services.

MCP support is generally determined by your AI provider or application, rather than the underlying AI model itself.

Herculean officially supports ChatGPT and Claude, but we’ve also successfully connected it to other AI services, including Gemini, Copilot and Grok.

Because MCP is an open protocol, Herculean isn’t tied to a single AI provider or model. If your preferred AI service supports connecting to external MCP servers and allows you to configure that connection, there’s a good chance it will work with Herculean.

New productivity

Once Herculean is connected to your AI service, you can interact with it just as you would another person. There’s no need for perfectly structured instructions, technical commands or carefully crafted prompts.

Spelling mistakes, bad dictation, half-formed thoughts and poorly constructed sentences are all fine.

Modern AI services use large language models (LLMs), which are particularly good at interpreting natural language, understanding context and identifying what you’re trying to achieve, even when your instructions are far from perfect.

Your AI can interpret those intentions, match them to Herculean’s available capabilities and carry out the appropriate actions on your behalf.

This means you can perform surprisingly complex organisational tasks with little more than a casually dictated instruction. Your AI can identify the relevant projects and tasks, organise information, update records and manage much of the administrative work that would otherwise demand your time and attention.

You don’t need to learn how to speak to a machine. The machine has learned how to understand you.

The result is less time spent maintaining your productivity system and more time available for the work that actually matters.

Examples

We provide real-world examples demonstrating how Herculean and AI agents can tackle surprisingly complicated tasks, complete with the exact prompts we used to achieve the results.

These examples cover everything from setting up a UK company and relocating internationally to planning a Couch to 5K training programme, including finding and booking an organised run at the end of the training period.

The prompts we publish are the actual prompts we gave our AI agents. They’re not carefully rewritten demonstrations designed to make the technology look more impressive. Where additional information, clarification or human input was required, we document that too.

The purpose is to demonstrate what you can realistically achieve with Herculean and a capable AI agent, including agents available through free plans from major AI providers, where the necessary tools and integrations are supported.

With relatively straightforward instructions, your agent can research complicated subjects, identify requirements, establish dependencies, organise actions and create a structured plan for achieving your goals.

Rather than spending hours researching every detail, working out what needs to happen first and manually organising everything into a usable plan, you can delegate much of that groundwork to your AI.

Herculean provides the structure, your AI does the research and organisation, and you concentrate on making decisions and getting things done.

Several of these are the same prompts I still use regularly as Herculean’s founder, including the daily and weekly review prompts, which help me review my commitments, understand my progress and decide what deserves my attention next.

As you become more comfortable interacting with AI, whether through voice dictation or simply typing away, you’ll quickly discover how little instruction is actually needed to get meaningful results.

What might previously have required hours or even days of research, planning, organisation and tedious administrative work can often be delegated to an AI agent with just a few sentences.

Start with our examples, experiment with your own instructions and get comfortable letting AI take on the grunt work.
